GOALIE SETTING
EXTENSION OF AGENCIES
In addition to our direct client relationships, Shuttershot provides support to marketing and advertising agencies as a production partner. In many cases, traditional agencies will play the role of client manager and campaign strategist, and enlist outside production support to execute visuals. One of our agency partners, Omni Advertising, asked us to produce a broadcast campaign for a client who wanted to highlight their own recent partnership.
FINDING PARALLELS
Lou Fusz Automotive and St. Louis CITY Soccer Club (SC) wanted to showcase the passion and dedication in each of their industries, tying seemingly unrelated businesses together. In developing our pitch, we demonstrated their similarities through visual parallels — split screen stories with characters crossing between frames and mirrored actions, punctuated by a diving-save from 2023 Allstate MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, Roman Bürki.
PITCHING A CLEAR VISION
We know that handing your brand’s voice over to a creative partner can feel scary — trusting an artistic concept that lives only in someone else's head is a lot to ask. We go above and beyond to maintain transparency through every step of the creative process to relieve those fears.
For example, when pitching a new concept, we typically create animatics (preliminary sequences of images cut together to showcase the flow and effectiveness of our proposed idea). However, for this project we took our pitch to the pitch…literally. Omni’s long-time relationship with the Fusz brothers (third generation of Fuszs in the business, current owners of the automotive network) provided context about the company’s goals (pun intended) for this marketing push. It became our job to get everyone on the same page. We intentionally departed from our standard animatic approach and instead, produced a rough version of the entire spot, complete with suggested soundtrack and scratch V.O. The result allowed the client to see exactly what they were committing to in advance, and set us up to efficiently execute the real deal.
TWO STORIES AT ONCE
When it actually came time for production, the planning we had done ahead of time made for light work on set. We were able to hold space for two stories that would have to visually align in post-production easily, and were able to accomplish what would normally have been a multi-day schedule in one. By planning efficiently from the get-go, maintaining transparent communication with clients, and leveraging the power of our agency partners, we are able pitch and produce more powerful stories.
